Foster School will celebrate its 75th anniversary on Saturday, October 8, with a community open house from 1 to 4 p.m. that will include entertainment, reunions among alums, a display of historic photos and memorabilia and the opening and sealing of time capsules. Following the opening of the 1991 time capsule, memories that Foster alums have shared recently at will be sealed in a new capsule to be opened on the school’s centennial in 2041. Girls on the Run at Magee Womens Hospital of UPMC will host its 12th annual Sneaker Bash fundraiser from 7 to 10 p.m., Friday, October 21, at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh. This year’s event, themed Born to Run, will commemorate the 20th anniversary of Girls on the Run International, an organization that teaches life skills to girls in third through eighth grade with lessons and running games.

The Sneaker Bash will include a silent auction, raffle, wine pull and sneaker decorating contest. A selection of wine, beer, and appetizers will be served. Dress is casual. At 7 p.m., on Saturday, October 29, The U.S. Air Force Concert Band and Singing Sergeants will perform a free concert at Mt. Lebanon High School. The U.S. Air Force Concert Band and Singing Sergeants are two of the six performing ensembles within The United States Air Force Band, the premier musical organization of the U.S. Air Force. This year marks the 75th anniversary of The United States Air Force Band. For three years in a row, the Concert Band and Singing Sergeants have been the featured ensemble of the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular in New York City. To learn more, visit




Howard Hanna hosts Cha Cha for Children’s Hospital, a fundraiser for the hospital’s Free Care Fund, 6 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, October 19, at South Hills Country Club on Brownsville Road. Tickets are $50 or five for $200 and include food, raffles, cash bar and more. Call 412-561-7400 for tickets.

The Garden Club of Allegheny County presents the 21st annual shopping event, PIZZAZZ, October 19 to 21, with nearly 30 designer boutiques, at the Fox Chapel Golf Club. It all starts with a preview party October 19 from 6 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $100. The event continues October 20-21, with $10 tickets available at the door, or tack on a luncheon for an additional $25. PIZZAZZ, the Garden Club’s annual fundraiser, allows the club to give grants to conservation, environmental and educational projects in Allegheny and Westmoreland counties.
