
Editors’ Pick: Cypress Sound Series
Monthly, beginning Friday, May 30
Needle & Bean, 320 Castle Shannon Boulevard, kicks off its new outdoor concert series with entertainment by The Garment District and Chariot Fade. The series is community-focused, featuring local musicians across all genres and collaborating with local businesses for food and refreshments. Shows will take place May 30, June 14 and July 19 from 7 to 10 p.m., with additional dates in the works. This is a free event with donations encouraged to support the artists. The Great Castle Shannon Bank Robbery
Thursday, May 8
On May 14, 1917, the sleepy mining hamlet of Castle Shannon erupted in violence as four desperadoes robbed the town’s only bank and found themselves caught in a Wild West-style shootout with the townspeople. An Evening of Percussion

The Mt. Lebanon Percussion Ensemble [4] presents its 41st annual spring concert, Thursday through Saturday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m. Mt. Lebanon High School, Fine Arts Theater, 155 Cochran Road. $15 for adults, $12 for students.

Perennials will include choices suitable for sun/shade and dry/wet conditions. Mt. Lebanon Uptown Market
Saturdays, May 31 through September 27
The Mt. Lebanon Uptown Market [7] returns to Washington Road on May 31 with makers, artists and regional farmers selling their crops and products. A core group of vendors will be present each week, along with rotating vendors to round out the selection. New this year is the launch of a music program, Curbside Concerts, featuring local street performers throughout Washington Road. Shop everything from produce, bread, meats and cheese to art, apparel, jewelry, housewares and more in the heart of the Uptown Business District. 9 a.m. to noon.

This zero-waste fundraiser hosted by the Allegheny County Parks Foundation is family-friendly. Coach Dave of CDG Sports will host children’s discovery activities. along with live music, raffle baskets and food trucks. The event will also feature beer, wine, spirits and non-alcoholic drink tastings. 6 to 9 p.m. (VIP hour from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.) Ticket levels include VIP, general admission, designated driver and children’s ticket. Proceeds benefit the nine Allegheny County Parks.
Women’s Social Club: Coffee and Tea

Newcomers & Neighbors Club [9] of Mt. Lebanon, a social club for women who live or work in in Mt. Lebanon, will be holding its annual Coffee and Tea at 10 a.m. at Mt. Lebanon Public Library in Room A. New and longtime Lebo ladies who want to learn about the club are welcome to attend.
