junior commissioners selected for 2012-13
The Mt. Lebanon Commission has chosen Mt. Lebanon High School junior Maddy Scott as junior commissioner for the fall semester. Scott, who has a GPA of 4.7, is a Markham Drive resident, a student choreographer with the school dance company, a member of the high school forensics team, a cellist in the high school orchestra and an active member of the history club and student council.
“I can safely say that I am the only one among my friends who has enjoyed watching C-SPAN,” she writes in her application. “The inner workings of government, be it local, state or national, have always been fascinating to me, and from a young age I have wanted to be involved in those systems.”
A team captain for Relay for Life and a student tutor, Scott writes: “I am qualified to serve as Mt. Lebanon’s Junior Commissioner because I am a dedicated, proactive, intelligent and responsible young woman with a strong communication and public speaking skills as well as a keen interest in local government.”
Scott will attend regular meetings, report on issues of concerns to students and take back valuable information about local government to the student body. Commissioners named senior Mark Klemencic as junior commissioner for the spring semester.
