Leading the way in 2026

headshot of woman with striped jacketA new year sharpens our focus on the goals we aim to achieve. Whether we’re setting a new direction or recommitting to our current path, January invites reflection. As the first half of the 2025–2026 school year comes to a close, it’s important to assess our progress toward the goals outlined in the first year of our strategic plan.

Our plan is organized around the acronym L.E.A.D.S., representing our five focus areas: Leading for the Future, Engagement, Academic Excellence and Innovation, District Systems and Supports, and Safe, Supportive, and Inclusive Environment. As we move into 2026, I am proud to share that meaningful progress is already underway.

Engagement: We launched new digital archives for districtwide newsletters and staff communications. We continued to strengthen partnerships with residents through events such as Steps with the Superintendent, alumni tours, the Citizens Fire Academy and our Business Roundtable. We also hosted several new opportunities for open conversation, including Superintendent Coffees and a special Lebo University: Tech Edition, offering families a deeper look at student technology use. Check the district calendar on our website for opportunities to engage.

Academic Excellence & Innovation: Our curriculum teams have been incredibly busy, with many subject areas in various phases of our renewed curriculum review cycle. Teachers are implementing new resources. The high school’s work with the Middle States Association’s Essential Learning Experiences Protocol underscores our commitment to ongoing improvement and alignment. A new elementary emotional support classroom reflects our continued efforts to meet the social-emotional and behavioral needs of students through targeted, individualized programming.

District Systems & Supports: The rollout of Enrollment Express in August modernized our K-12 registration process, allowing families to enroll students online anytime, and ensuring a smoother, more user-friendly experience, complementing our broader goals to expand single sign-on access through LeboID and enhance the integration between PowerSchool and Schoology to increase ease of use for all users.

As we move into the second half of the school year, I am inspired by our progress and even more motivated by the work ahead. Strategic plans succeed when they are living, dynamic and rooted in shared purpose. That is exactly what I see every day in Mt. Lebanon: a community committed to leading the way for our students, today and into the future.

I look forward to all that we will accomplish together in the years ahead.
