A new boutique greeting card and gift shop is set to open in Uptown this June. Sapling & Sons founder Lisa Krowinski of White Oak Circle will bring a curated mix of modern paper goods and small gifts to 690 Washington Road, just across from Il Pizzaiolo.
The shop will feature greeting cards from Krowinski’s company, Sapling Press [1], and cards from other independent makers. Customers can also expect an assortment of gifts.

“It will have our cards, but it will also have a ton of other greeting card manufacturers and brands,” Krowinski said. “It will have a little spa and beauty, candles, notebooks, journals — all kinds of stuff.”
With about 300 square feet of retail space, Sapling & Sons is designed to be a go-to destination for anyone headed to a dinner, birthday or celebration in need of a meaningful card or unique gift.
“We want it to be that shop you can stop in on your way and find the perfect thing,” she said.

Krowinski has been part of the Mt. Lebanon community for 10 years. She brings over two decades of experience in the greeting card industry through Sapling Press, which distributes cards to thousands of stores across the U.S. and internationally. With her office just a few doors down from the new store, opening Sapling & Sons in Mt. Lebanon felt like a natural next step.
“It’s such a great location,” she said. “People are always walking to restaurants, waiting for a meal, heading to the fountain — it’s perfect.”
Krowinski envisions the shop as a welcoming space for everyone, with a fresh, modern twist on traditional card-giving.
“We’re going to be a little bit more progressive,” she said. “If somebody in your life has new pronouns, we will have a card for that.”
Beyond selling cards and gifts, Sapling & Sons aims to build community.
“We hope to have lots of events planned around the concept of letter writing and gift giving,” she said.
Krowinski also believes in the simple joy of a handwritten card. “It is so nice to receive a card,” she said. “I do not know anybody who does not appreciate it.”
The store is expected to open in June, and summer hours will likely run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. For updates on the opening and upcoming events, visit www.saplingandsons.com [2].
