New PIO intern will spend her summer telling stories

Splitting my time this summer between docu-filming and interning!

My name is Brynn Murawski, this summer’s Public Information Office intern and proud member of the Lebo community since I was five.

I’m excited to keep working in my home community, where I started as a page at the Mt. Lebanon Public Library in high school and continued as the teacher of a filmmaking summer enrichment course at the school district last year.

You may already recognize my name from blogs I’ve written for Mt. Lebanon Magazine — everything from playground rankings [1] to my experience with celiac disease [2].

I’m a Lebo alumna and rising senior at the University of Pittsburgh (#h2p). At Pitt I double major in film production and nonfiction writing. I’m the opinions editor of The Pitt News and a head writer for Pitt Tonight — Pitt’s best and only late-night show. I’m also an editor for Forbes & Fifth, Pitt Dietrich School’s undergraduate journal.

This summer, when I’m not working at the Public Information Office, I’ll be filming a documentary about the proposed AI data center in Springdale. I received a summer undergraduate research award from Pitt to work on this project, and I’m always looking for experts to interview, so feel free to reach out!

In my relatively limited free time, I enjoy thrifting, eating gluten-free food and hanging out with animals, especially my two miniature dachshunds, Zoey and Zelda, or my friend’s cat, Frannie. Of course, any animal will do, even if the pigeons down in Oakland don’t quite understand yet that I just want to be their friend.

Obligatory pet photo.

If you ignore my YouTube shorts addiction, watching TV is one of my favorite ways to wind down. But keep in mind that if anyone spoils the finale of Hacks for me, I will be very disappointed.

Usually, when people ask me what I want to do when I graduate, or what my dream job would be, I struggle to avoid the unsatisfying response of “Oh, I don’t know yet.” The truth is, I’m just passionate about storytelling.

Whether that be a documentary on data centers, a research piece on green burial, a comedy sketch about misogyny spray or a column criticizing negative reactions to the next season of Bridgerton, I love connecting with others. This summer I hope to connect with all of you and tell the stories of this lovely community we call home.
