Years ago, we would’ve told you that Mt. Lebanon’s public information office was the keeper of the words and pictures of Mt. Lebanon. Back then, we couldn’t have predicted how the field of communication would change. Today, we are the keeper of the words, the pictures, the videos, the posts, the texts, the stories and the websites for the Municipality.
Our job is to make sure you—whether you’re a resident, a potential resident, a property owner, business owner or a visitor—know everything you need to know to have a positive quality of life for whatever amount of time you are in Mt. Lebanon.
In 2020, the public information office launched a diversity initiative with a goal of ensuring that anyone who contributes positively to life in Mt. Lebanon will seem themselves reflected in our communications. We represent so many demographics, and everyone is welcome here.
Also last year, we began an implementation of a 2019 communications study. Consultants from A.S. Comms looked at our entire office functionality, and gave recommendations for us to make our work even more meaningful. Some of those implementations are things you won’t see, such as staffing and workflow. Other things will be obvious, such as rebranding our social media and a complete reworking of the municipal website (scheduled for later this year).
We produce 10 issues of Mt. Lebanon Magazine each year (January/February and July/August are combined issues). The majority of the magazine is paid for by the advertising inside of it.
We supervise the content of two websites: mtlebanon.org is the official municipal website and is your service portal for doing everything from signing up for recreation classes and passes to requesting overnight onstreet parking and lebomag.com, the magazine’s website, which features breaking news and magazine stories to fill you in on the “hows” and “whys” of Mt. Lebanon.
When something goes wrong, we are there to get critical information to you in whatever way you choose to receive it. Our staff is available to help our emergency management staff 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
We manage many social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, NextDoor and Pinterest.
We write and send the Seven Ten email subscription newsletter every other week. It includes reminders of upcoming deadlines, refers you to important information you may have missed and gives you a reason to smile. Sign up at lebomag.com.
We manage the LeboALERT system and send the majority of the notices you receive. You can pick texts or emails and you can select the categories you want to hear about. Sign up at mtlebanon.org.
We also send messages about life-threatening emergencies on the LeboEmergnecy platform. You can pick phone or cell calls, texts and emails. Sign up by texting LEBO to 99411 or going to mtlebanon.org.
We handle marketing and communications for the entire municipality, designing everything from coasters to posters. We produce videos that appear on many of our platforms; it’s one of the most popular things we do!
We help promote our important nonprofit community groups. The municipality provides funding for many groups, such as the Mt. Lebanon Partnership, the Historical Society of Mount Lebanon and Outreach Teen & Family Services.
We assist with public events like the Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremony, First Fridays, the Mt. Lebanon Artists Market, the Uptown Farmers Market and big, large, fun things. Remember those?
