After School STEAM

Learn about circuits, coding, animal science and more. For kids in fourth and fifth grades. Register for each session individually. Registration opens one week in advance of program.
Book Lab
Thursday, May 8, 6:30 p.m., Story Room
For first- and second-graders. Read a new STEAM themed book each month, then get together to experiment. Practice collaboration and communication skills as you work on fun challenges. Book selections will be both fiction and nonfiction. Books will be available for checkout one month before the club meets. Registration for all book clubs occurs when the book is checked out. Please stop by the children’s reference desk for your copy.
Crazy for Comics
6:30 p.m., Thursday, May 15, Story Room
For kids in third, fourth and fifth grades. Discuss graphic novels and analyze the comic book format, then engage in cool Maker projects. Book club books are available at the children’s library desk one month prior to the meeting date.
Pajama Storytime
6:30 p.m., Thursday, May 22, Story Room
For ages 3 to 6. Enjoy interactive stories and creative activities in this family storytime. Please register once per family.
PROGRAMS FOR TEENS
Teen Planning Committee
6 p.m., Thursday, May 1, Learning Lab
The Teen Planning Committee meets monthly during the school year to plan and work on displays, events, and projects under the supervision of teen librarian Miss Katie. This volunteer leadership opportunity is open to students in seventh through 12th grades, and requires completing an application to join. Limit of 20 students.

Board Game Night
7 p.m., Tuesdays in May, Learning Lab
For teens and adults. All experience levels are welcome, and games will vary every week depending on attendees’ interests. Feel free to bring your own games or just come to learn something new. Here are some examples of what may be available:
- Strategy (Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne, Kingdomino, Small World, Sagrada, Azul, Barenpark, Parks, Wingspan)

The Italian Conversation Group is composed of native Italian speakers, Italian-Americans, non-Italians who just love the culture and the language, people who regularly visit Italy and those who want to brush up on the lingo before taking a trip.
Career Counseling

WorkAble combines the services of career counselors, regional employers and volunteers to provide seamless services in geographically diverse locations throughout Allegheny County. Funded through the United Way of Allegheny County, services include career counseling and assessment, guidance in resume and cover letter writing, job search strategies, networking, interviewing and connection to other resources to assist with barriers to employment. Cozy Mystery Club

The meeting begins with a discussion of cozy and cozy-adjacent things members have read or watched recently, and then moves on to discuss a novel. This month’s book is The Door by Mary Roberts Rinehart.

Turkish Coffee Workshop

History and significance of Turkish coffee. Traditional preparation. Insights into Turkish coffee customs and culture. A tasting session with freshly brewed coffee.
