Road Work
The Mt. Lebanon Commission approved funding for this year’s street maintenance and reconstruction program. Street maintenance involves milling pavement and resurfacing streets. Reconstruction requires more work, including replacing deteriorated curbs, rebuilding storm and sanitary sewers and removing the old surface and base.
Mele & Mele & Sons received the street maintenance contract, and will be working on the following streets this summer:
- Beverly Road from Marlin Drive East to Marlin Drive West
- Catalpa Place from Parkside Avenue to Richland Road
- Cedar Boulevard from Morgan Drive to Hollycrest Drive
- Lindendale Drive from Kurt Drive to 1022 Lindendale Drive
- North Meadowcroft Avenue from Kenforest Drive to Twin Hills Drive
- Oxford Boulevard from Worcester Drive to Pembroke Drive
- Sleepy Hollow Road from Richland Road to Valley Park Drive
- Woodland Drive from Wainwright Drive to Vermont Avenue
- Cedar Boulevard from Lindendale Drive to 1183 Cedar
- St. Clair Drive
Niando Construction received the reconstruction contract, and will be working on the following streets:
- Craig Court from Anawanda Avenue to Cul De Sac
- Crystal Drive from Gypsy Lane to Castle Shannon Boulevard
- Helen Drive from Theodan to Dollar General Driveway
- Old Hickory Road from Pin Oak Road to 904 Old Hickory Road
- Ordale Boulevard from 1480 Washington Road to Cherokee Island
- Eisenhower Drive from 829 Eisenhower to Ridgeview Drive
- Pinoak Road from Sweet Gum Road to Moffett Street
Street reconstruction is funded through several sources, with $1,509,434.10 coming from the capital improvements budget, and the remainder from the municipality’s sanitary fund and stormwater fund.
Mt. Lebanon farmers markets return
Two farmers markets are returning to Mt. Lebanon this year, offering residents a seasonal lineup of fresh food, handmade goods and local entertainment.
The Mt. Lebanon Uptown Market kicks off Saturday, May 31, and runs weekly from 9 a.m. to noon through October 11 in the Uptown Business District on Washington Road. The market features a core group of vendors with a rotating selection offering produce, meats, cheeses, art, jewelry, apparel, home goods and more.
New this year is Curbside Concerts, a live music program presented in collaboration with the Municipality of Mt. Lebanon, featuring street performers throughout the season.
The Mt. Lebanon Lions Farmers Market begins on Wednesday, June 4, operating every Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m., rain or shine, through the end of October at Mt. Lebanon United Lutheran Church, 975 Washington Road.
Dedicated to supporting small farms and local businesses, the Lions Market offers fresh produce, baked goods and artisanal items, along with live entertainment and special events. Organizers encourage visitors to stop by after work or school to enjoy the day’s harvest.
