Welcome, Erin

Erin Brubaker will be spending the summer as a Mt. Lebanon Magazine intern, writing for print and online, and assisting with multimedia projects

Hi! My name is Erin Brubaker and I am just beginning my summer internship with Mt. Lebanon Magazine. I am so excited to see what is in store this summer! I am a rising junior at Penn State majoring in broadcast journalism with a minor in political science. At Penn State, I am an account executive for the College of Communication’s CommRadio for the advertising sales department, where I work with local businesses to design a unique advertising campaign for what their business has to offer. I graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School in 2015. While I was there, I was on the staff for The Devil’s Advocate for almost three years and served as the editor-in-chief during my senior year. Ever since I was a member of The Devil’s Advocate staff, I have developed a love for writing, page design and editing. I am hoping to strengthen these skills even more during my internship here at the magazine this summer.

I was born and raised in Mt. Lebanon, living with my parents, my brother, my sister and our dogs. I have developed some of the best friendships I will ever have while growing up in Mt. Lebanon, and they are relationships that I will hold close to my heart forever. Now that all my Mt. Lebanon friends and I have gone our separate ways for college, every time we reconnect, it is as if no time has passed. Since the beginning of my junior year of high school, I have worked at Il Pizzaiolo where I have been a hostess, bartender and now a server. I have loved working Uptown for so many years right in the hub of Mt. Lebanon, always seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones. The atmosphere in Mt. Lebanon different from surrounding suburban areas. It offers just a little bit of the hustle that makes it feel urban with new businesses constantly popping up.

In my spare time, I am either going out to eat or hanging out in my basement with my friends. I am often walking through Virginia Manor with my one black Lab/Great Dane mix or trying to drag my yellow Lab up the street as she fights my attempts to get her outside for some exercise. Like almost every other millennial, I love binge watching TV shows on Netflix; some of my favorites are Scandal, House of Cards and The Vampire Diaries. I also love to travel and have been blessed to be able to explore different cities in Europe, visit various places throughout the U.S. and this summer, travel to Costa Rica with my family.

I am looking forward to working with the staff at Mt. Lebanon Magazine this summer and learning all that goes into making a publication a success!
