The right element

When Linda Lane resident Kellie Healy was looking for a storefront location for her online store, Element Gold & Silver, she asked her daughter, Alex Healy, to keep an eye out for real estate on Main Street in Carnegie. That’s where Alex’s LUXskin spa is located. LUXskin specializes in facials, microblading, permanent eyeliner and other esthetic services.

When Alex learned the storefront across the street at 221 E. Main Street was available, she flagged her mom. Kellie and Element Gold & Silver co-owner Tom Gustovich called the landlord that very day and secured the space in time for a July opening.

“We just fell in love with jewelry and we wanted a side business,” Kellie said. “We started off with an online business and branched out a few months ago when this became available. It’s just the perfect little spot.”

“I think the best part about having a business across the street from my mom is seeing her in her element (no pun intended) and seeing her interact with the community I love,” said Alex.

Before getting into the jewelry business, Kellie Healy spent 22 years at TSS Photography, covering sports, schools and events in Mt. Lebanon and throughout Allegheny County.

“She has been an entrepreneur for most of my life and she actually inspired me to open my own business,” Alex said.

Element Gold & Silver sells 14K gold and silver without all the markup.

“We don’t have a huge overhead, so we’re able to offer lower prices than a regular retail jewelry store,” Kellie said.

Element Gold & Silver also buys gold, silver and coins—paying cash on the spot.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for in the Carnegie store, the online store offers hundreds of options, in just about every style.

“Having my biggest supporter and best friend right across the street from my spa gives me inspiration and encouragement every single day to be my best. Not to mention I get a lunch date with her every day—but that’s just a bonus,” Alex pointed out.

At press time, Element Gold & Silver’s hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, or by appointment.
