MLK DAY OF SERVICE  Mt. Lebanon invites volunteers to come together on Monday, January 18, 2027, for a morning of community service for local nonprofits and projects. Last year, more than 100 community members contributed their time to work on several service projects. This year’s event will kick off at 9 a.m., in the lobby of the Mt. Lebanon High School Fine Arts Theater. All ages welcome. Register online.

VETERANS DAY Mt. Lebanon will host a Veterans Day ceremony beginning at 4 p.m., Wednesday, November 11, at the Veterans Memorial on Cedar Boulevard. Commission President Jeff Siegler will deliver the opening remarks. Invocation and benediction will be by the Rev. Dr. Cathie Smith of Southminster Presbyterian Church. The keynote speaker is Dr. Susan Gillette Meer, State Regent of the Pennsylvania State Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

COMPREHENSIVE PLAN DRAWS ACCLAIM The Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Planning Association recognized Mt. Lebanon’s Comprehensive Plan, Ascend Lebo, along with the municipality’s Activate Uptown initiative, with the 2026 Award for a Plan. The awards committee believed that collectively, both plans merit an award as one, exemplifying the best and brightest in Pennsylvania Planning.

“Great planning sets the table for magic to happen,” said Mt. Lebanon Commercial Districts Manager Eric Milliron. “Mt. Lebanon is not magically a wonderful place, it is chiseled from tried-and-true processes, starting with listening to our residents and taking those inputs through the filter of subject experts, in this case Pashek MTR. Dedicated staff, advisory boards and an engaged Commission complete the hat trick. Every resident of Mt. Lebanon should feel proud and owns a bit of this honor because it is their vision that was distilled.”
