HISTORY, HUMOR AND MUSIC The Historical Society of Mount Lebanon presents historian and musician Mick Sullivan for a program on Saturday, October 4, at the Mellon Middle School auditorium, at 4 p.m. Sullivan, a curator at the Frazier History Museum in Louisville, Kentucky, is the host of the history podcast The Past and the Curious. Following the 45-minute show, which is geared toward upper elementary and middle school aged kids, Sullivan will be at the History Center, across the street from Mellon, where he will be signing copies of his book, I See Lincoln’s Underpants: The Surprising Times Underwear (and the People Wearing Them) Made History.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children, and a bundle of two adults’ and two children’s tickets for $25. Buy tickets at lebohistory.org/events.
COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS As part of its new strategic plan, the Mt. Lebanon School District is hosting a series of opportunities to engage with residents. On Wednesday, October 1 at 9 a.m., join Superintendent Dr. Melissa Friez for a morning walk and conversation at Mt. Lebanon Stadium. The following Wednesday, October 8, Friez will host an informal discussion about the district’s schools at Mt. Lebanon High School, Rooms B607 and B609, at 9 a.m. On Tuesday, October 14, in Room D205, at noon, join the district’s business roundtable, a lunch designed to connect district leaders with business professionals.

SAVE THE DATE Mt. Lebanon’s Veterans Day observance is on Tuesday, November 11, at the Veterans Memorial, located at the entrance to Mt. Lebanon Park, beginning at 4 p.m. Keynote speaker is Mt. Lebanon volunteer firefighter and former Navy SEAL Brian Loughridge.
