farmers market set to roar
Our other farmers market is opening
If you’re reading this blog, you probably know all about the Saturday morning Uptown Farmers Market, which has been well-publicized by its new market manager, Kristin Wessell. That one opened May 10 and runs through October.
We’re blessed to have another farmers market, and it’s finally opening this week.
The Mt. Lebanon Lions Farmers Market runs from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays, June 18 through October in the parking lot of Mt. Lebanon United Lutheran Church at 975 Washington Road.
Co-organizer and vendor Frank Zitibrosky of Paul’s Orchard, known to many regulars as “the Apple Guy,” says the market, like most, has lost a few vendors (including LaScola’s Italian Ice). but is hoping to add a shaved-ice vendor, and also gained a few vendors.
According to co-organizer Deanna Bartelme of Wood Street Bread Co., the new vendors are Ohio City Pasta, GoodLife Juices, Stacy’s BBQ (ribs, chicken, pulled pork) and Cinco de Mayo Salsas.
The market is opening a little later than usual because the church parking lot has been used by the high school. But there still isn’t a lot of local produce available yet. You should find kale and plenty of other greens for starters.
