Kick off the holiday season in the heart of Mt. Lebanon at the Uptown Winter Market on Washington Road on Saturday, December 5, from noon to 5 p.m. This annual community celebration brings together holiday shopping, local food, music, family activities and some of Uptown’s favorite seasonal traditions for a festive day throughout the business district.

The Uptown Winter Market will feature a curated mix of local and regional makers, artists, food producers and small businesses offering handmade gifts, specialty foods, holiday décor and other seasonal finds. Throughout the day, visitors can explore Uptown’s shops and restaurants, visit Santa, enjoy holiday performances from student musicians and experience the popular model railroad display in the municipal building. As daylight fades, stay to experience colorWALK, a year-round public art installation that illuminates Uptown’s sidewalks with colorful projections that change with the seasons, creating a glowing pathway along Washington Road that is best experienced after dark.

With activities happening throughout Uptown, the celebration offers plenty of reasons to stroll the district, discover something new, and spend the day enjoying the season with family and friends.

911 Chili Showdown: taste, vote and crown a champion

The crowd-favorite 911 Chili Showdown is back! It starts at noon and lasts until the chili runs out, so get there early!

Mt. Lebanon’s Fire Department returns to defend its title against Mt. Lebanon Police Department and Medical Rescue Team South Authority (MRTSA). Each team will be serving up their best chili, and it’s up to the community to decide who takes home this year’s trophy.

Stop by the Public Safety Building in Uptown to sample all three entries and cast your vote. Will the fire department successfully defend its title, or will a new champion be crowned? You decide!

Uptown Holiday Window Contest: a walkable winter wonderland

The Uptown Holiday Window Contest adds even more holiday cheer throughout the business district. Uptown businesses will transform their storefronts with creative holiday and winter displays, bringing color, personality and festive spirit to Washington Road!

Take a stroll through Uptown, check out the participating windows and vote for your favorite once per day throughout the voting period. While you’re exploring, stop into the shops, restaurants and businesses that make Uptown a special place during the holidays and all year long.

It’s a simple and festive way to shop local, support Uptown businesses and be part of the holiday celebration!
